Lee High Coach Fired

First things first. Coomer was not fired. His contract was for one year as is every coach in Lee County. While he has been employed by the school he has been working to complete his work toward his teaching certificate. That work has not been completed. As for him being back at Lee next year that is yet to be determined. Is the school board looking for a different coach at Lee? Yes. Who is in the running? The position has not been advertised yet, and there has been on applications taken. With the volitity of the position at Lee who would want it. Lee County's pay scale is lower than any system close by. The program has been down for several years. Program has been thru eight coaches since 1999. I do not see PR leaving PV. BIS has been in the Lee system and knows how it is. Do not see the position going to another "start-up" coach. Do not see a respected coach wanting to come in and "dealing" with the problem of rebuilding.

Have to scratch my head at the B.I. rumors. Why leave a program that is becoming successful,a program that you played for and have completely rebuilt,and head to Lee?

Ok so fired may have been a little harsh, but what do you call it when he was asked to resign so that it wouldn't look as bad on him and he refused so then the contract was not renewed???? Let go, not rehired? He was given the opportunity to get his teaching certificate and did not, what do you expect the board to do? He gave them a excuse to get rid of him and then pointed the blame at the board when he did not keep his end of the deal.

Yeah, no one "has" the job yet when they haven't even started the process (which I'm sure most knew that though).

Wonder if former Pennington Bobcat David Garrett would be interested again, some wanted to see him get the job this past season. Guessing he's still up at Lexington Christian (in KY). Will the Don Williams returning one get going again? haha. Any others?

I just don't understand why you hire him for the head job in the first place if he didn't even have his teaching certificate. That's just too much to chance that you lose him after one year if he doesn't get it finished. Normal Lee County stuff I guess.
